H.R. 3377, THE DISASTER RESPONSE, RECOVERY, AND MITIGATION ENHANCEMENT ACT OF 2009
aka: my government health care bill
Congressman Oberstar:
“The bill also takes small steps to address two very pressing issues that face our nation: health care and housing. This legislation makes temporary employees hired…in response to a disaster eligible to enroll in the Federal Health Benefits Program. Most of the employees [sent] to disasters—many of whom have been employed…for years—do not have access to employer sponsored health insurance.”
Update: 11/05/09 - Ordered to be Reported (Amended) by Voice Vote.
What does this mean?
Maybe within a year or two us disaster employees will have access to government health care plans.
On Sunday I was allowed a tour of the west wing of the White House.
(situation room door, press secretary office, assistance to the assistance to the deputy secretary’s desk, that painting of washington crossing the delaware, the roosevelt room, the cabinet room, purell-hand-washing-stands-everywhere, press room, rose garden, big screens with the redskins game, oval office, beer summit site)
But saw something I really didn’t expect…
At the White House, below the press briefing room in the west wing is an emptied pool. Built for FDR, it was used by several presidents. Nixon covered the pool and above it created the press briefing room we see today. However, the empty pool still exists. It now houses IT equipment and…signatures.
we were allowed to sign our names to the White House Pool built for FDR.
there doesn’t seem to be a specific group of people who are meant to sign the walls: press, wh staff, celebrities - paul rudd a few weeks ago.
It’s really, “if you find the pool, then you get to sign the pool”.
so go find the pool!
